Achieve Non-Invasive Skin Resurfacing with the Pixel® Laser!
The Pixel® laser can be used to treat wrinkles, fine lines, acne scars, and uneven pigmentation on the face, neck, and chest. This non-invasive laser treatment involves only a short period of downtime so that patients can get the results of a more intense procedure without an extended or painful recovery period.
At Medical Aesthetics of Virginia, we’re proud to bring our patients a wide selection of minimally invasive cosmetic treatments. If you’d like more information about our practice or are interested in scheduling a consultation appointment, contact us today!
What is the Pixel®?
The Pixel® is a fractionated Erbium laser used to rejuvenate the skin on the face, neck, and chest, as well as most other areas of the body. This laser can be used to help improve the appearance of skin texture, pigmentation, fine lines, wrinkles, acne scars, and enlarged pores.
All of our Pixel® procedures are administered by our licensed Master Aestheticians, Deanna Bain, so patients can take comfort knowing they’re receiving treatment from someone with 14 years of experience in the field of aesthetics.
How Does it Work?
During treatment, the Pixel® laser is directed at the treatment area. This laser delivers energy in columns that create a series of controlled injuries in the skin. The areas of the skin are damaged in a controlled manner, triggering the body’s natural healing response. This results in the creation of newer, healthier skin tissues. It also causes collagen, one of the skin’s most important structural proteins, to be created more quickly, tightening and rejuvenating the skin inside and out.
Because energy is delivered in columns rather than to the entire surface of the treatment area, many of the skin cells are left healthy and intact. This considerably shortens the recovery time associated with Pixel® treatments, especially when compared to fully ablative lasers.
What can I Expect from Treatment?
On average, each Pixel® treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete. However, this amount of time can be longer or shorter depending on the area being treated. Following treatment, most patients experience a three to four day period of social downtime. This means that while it is okay for patients to go about their daily routines, their skin will probably be swollen, discolored, and peeling during this time.
This treatment can be used on patients of all skin types. While some changes can be seen after a single treatment, between three and five treatments are usually necessary for significant changes in appearance.
