Dermal Fillers
Restore Volume with Dermal Fillers in Norfolk, VA
Dermal fillers are injectable treatments designed to restore lost volume, enhance facial contours, and smooth the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles for a refreshed, youthful look. Common treatment areas include the lips, cheeks, jawline, nasolabial folds, and under-eye area.
Treatments are typically quick, with minimal downtime. Results are visible immediately, with continued improvement as any initial swelling subsides. Depending on the type of filler used and the treatment area, results can last anywhere from several months to over a year.
At Medical Aesthetics of Virginia, our experienced injectors create personalized dermal filler treatments designed to enhance your natural features. During your consultation, we’ll discuss your goals and develop a customized plan for natural-looking results.
Your Dermal Filler Treatment Plan
- Schedule your dermal filler treatment at least 2 weeks before any special event to allow time for potential swelling or bruising to resolve.
- To help minimize bruising, avoid aspirin, NSAIDs, and certain supplements (such as ginkgo, garlic, and vitamins A & E) for 3–7 days before and after treatment, unless otherwise directed by your physician. Always consult your healthcare provider before stopping any medications.
- Avoid alcohol, caffeine, nicotine, and niacin for 24–48 hours before and after your appointment.
- Inform your provider if you have a history of cold sores, as preventative antiviral medication may be recommended.
- Dermal fillers should not be performed if you have an active infection, rash, or irritation in the treatment area.
- Treatments are not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
- A topical numbing cream may be applied before treatment to help ensure a comfortable experience.
- Mild redness, tenderness, or swelling is common after treatment and typically improves within a few hours, though swelling may last for several days.
- Results are visible immediately, with effects typically lasting 6–12+ months depending on the filler used and treatment area.
- You’ll still look like yourself—just refreshed, balanced, and naturally enhanced.
