What Is the Pixel?
The Pixel is a fractionated erbium laser used to rejuvenate the skin on the face, neck, and chest, as well as most other areas of the body. This laser can be used to help improve the appearance of skin texture, pigmentation, and fine lines. It also reduces enlarged pores, wrinkles, and acne scars.
All of our Pixel procedures are administered by our licensed master aesthetician, Deanna Bain, so patients can take comfort knowing they’re receiving treatment from someone with more than 14 years of experience in the field of skin aesthetics.
How Does It Work?
During treatment, the Pixel laser is directed at the treatment area. This laser delivers energy in columns that create a series of controlled injuries in the skin. The areas of the skin are damaged in a controlled manner, triggering the body’s natural healing response. This results in the creation of newer, healthier skin tissues. It also causes collagen, one of the skin’s most important structural proteins, to be created quickly, tightening and rejuvenating the skin inside and out.
Because energy is delivered in columns rather than to the entire surface of the treatment area, many of the skin cells are left healthy and intact. This considerably shortens the recovery time associated with Pixel treatments, especially when compared to fully ablative lasers.
What to Expect from Treatment?
On average, each Pixel treatment takes about 30 minutes to complete. However, this amount of time can be longer or shorter depending on the area being treated. Following treatment, most patients experience a three-to-four day period of social downtime. This means that while it is okay for patients to go about their daily routines, their skin will probably be swollen, discolored, and peeling during this time.
Pixel laser resurfacing is used on patients of all skin types. While some changes are seen after a single treatment, between three and five treatments are usually necessary for significant changes in appearance.
